United Energy Egypt (UEE) hosted the second edition of the Women in Influence (WII) event on June 25, at its headquarters, in collaboration with Carerha, an EdTech female-focused platform that empowers women economically and fosters inclusive workplaces. The gathering brought together pioneering women and dedicated allies from the energy sector and other traditionally male-dominated industries, reaffirming UEE’s ongoing commitment to inclusive leadership, gender equality, and the advancement of women across all career stages.
The event began with opening remarks from Yasmin Ali, the driving force behind the WII Network at UEE, who highlighted the company’s commitment to building a workplace rooted in diversity and inclusion. She emphasized the importance of the WII platform as a space for women to connect, grow, and lead.
The agenda featured a series of impactful sessions, including a presentation on a community empowerment model implemented by UEE in Ras Gharib in collaboration with Button Up, a social enterprise that seeks to economically empower youth and women. The sessions focused on upskilling local women in handicrafts and supporting their economic independence. Another session shared a personal journey in the energy sector, exploring the obstacles women face and how resilience and support lead to success. A practical leadership session also offered tools and strategies to help women navigate change and lead with confidence.
A key highlight of the day was a panel discussion titled “Power to Lead: Emotional Intelligence and Resilience in the Energy Sector,” where experts explored the role of emotional intelligence in leadership and the importance of resilience in high-pressure industries like energy.
In his keynote address, Kamel El Sawi, President of United Energy Egypt, emphasized the company’s unwavering belief in the value of diversity and the vital role of women in UEE’s leadership and operations. He reiterated UEE’s strategic vision to foster an inclusive environment where innovation, collaboration, and equal opportunity thrive.
The event concluded with a dynamic workshop addressing the common challenges facing diversity and inclusion initiatives and how emotional intelligence can drive meaningful and lasting change in organizational culture.
To wrap up the experience, participants engaged in a creative candle-making activity held by Button Up and explored a dedicated product booth Stand of Tamkeeny, featuring handmade items crafted by women from Ras Gharib—an inspiring example of local empowerment in action.
United Energy Egypt remains firmly committed to advancing gender equity and fostering inclusive work environments where women can lead, thrive, and shape the future of the energy sector.
